December 27 - Sustaining the Glow

Spark: "Happiness depends upon ourselves." — Aristotle

Meditation: Now that the big events are over, your focus should be on keeping your inner light steady. This is the secret to staying strong and resilient—not burning bright and then crashing, but keeping a steady, reliable warmth. By practicing your breathing and staying calm every day, you keep your inner fire alive. Make sure you support your own peace is your most important job. Tending to your own energy is what allows you to last for the long haul.

Healing Exercise: Pranayama (Breath)

1. Sit in a comfortable cross-legged position with your spine straight and your hands resting on your knees. Close your eyes and focus your internal gaze toward the space between your eyebrows.

2. Inhale and exhale rapidly through your nose while keeping your mouth closed.

3. Pull your navel point and abdomen sharply toward your spine during each exhale.

4. Relax your stomach muscles completely during each inhale to allow the breath to fill the lungs naturally. Ensure the duration of the inhale and the exhale are equal in length and force.

5. Keep your chest, shoulders, and face relaxed while the abdominal muscles do the work.

6. Maintain a steady and rhythmic pace that feels sustainable for several minutes.

7. Finish the practice by taking a deep breath in and holding it briefly before exhaling slowly.

Notes

1. How does the physical sensation of rhythmic, forceful breathing alter your immediate belief of internal resistance or stagnant energy?
